I am a Labour Party Member of the Socialist tendency mightily influenced by Aneurin Bevan, brought up in a Bevan council house, two loos….  Joined the Labour Party in 1973 while a student of History and Politics at Liverpool University and went to the eve of Poll Meetings in St George’s Hall, Liverpool led by  Harold Wilson for both elections in 1974. Member of the GMC for Edge Hill, then member of the GMC of Cardifff South East when James Callaghan was MP and Premier. Called him Grandad, as he could not distinguish between militant and anti militant yoof – we were all militant for him. Also active member of the Anti Nazi League, before moving abroad. Spent many years in various countries from 1980 to 1996 and from 1996 to 2004 in Australia and was a  member of the Australian Labor Party in Queensland. However worked on the famous Kinnock election supporting Chris Smith who increased his majority in 1992 in Islington South. Moved back to the UK in 2004 and became increasingly angry about the Iraq war and the fact that Blair was a Tory in any other name. Brown started moving back to Labour’s traditional roots but too late and too authoritarian. Time to again modernise the Left on socialist/social democratic values. Always remained a Labour Party member despite Iraq remain eternally optimistic that Britain is still on the road, however long, to full social democracy based on need not greed.  I still believe that we need  To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service. as my raison d’être. Am still as well an unreconstructed hippy. Peace and Love everyone.
